About Us

The “Expert Riders Academy (ERA)” is a  NEW initiative powered By My Insurance Broker.  Our goal is to improve your riding skills and expand your comfort zone. We want to eliminate “panic” in your riding vocabulary and replace it with “react”!

The long-term goal of building a better rider will benefit all motorcyclists.  we strive to create a supportive and safer environment for riders across the province.

Our Program

Shannonville Motorsport Park, one of Canada’s top racetracks, is known for its technical layout and versatile configurations, making it ideal for high-performance training.

Expert Riders Academy is proud to host our events here, providing riders with a safe yet thrilling environment to refine their skills. Our partnership with Shannonville ensures top-tier training on a world-class circuit, helping riders gain confidence and control at high speeds.

Meet Our Instructors

David Grummett

Chief Instructor

David Grummett has been an avid motorcycle rider, racer and instructor for decades. The former national road racing champion began his on-track motorcycle teaching career in 1986 with the RACE organization. He has also taught at the FAST Riding School and currently teaches the Super Series Roadrace School. David taught the Canada Safety Council “Gear Up” program with MTOHP and taught off road riding with Motocamp and SMART Riding Adventures.

David’s motorcycle career also included owning Parker Bros Powersports, a Toronto motorcycle dealer from 1992 to 2013. He has worked as the Executive Director of the Ontario Federation of Trail Riders, the Director of Communications for the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council and as a District Sales Manager for Suzuki Canada and the Piaggio North America Group. In 2023 David became an insurance broker and Motorcycle Product Specialist with “My Insurance Broker”. MIB manages the Harley Davidson Canada, Open Road and MIB-Moto motorcycle insurance programs.

Grummett’s current motorcycle passion involves exploring the backroads of Ontario on his Honda Africa Twin. He is also restoring a Suzuki SV650 that he hopes to use at track days at Shannonville Motorsport Park.

How much does the program cost?

The value of Expert Riders Academy program is $599 CAD per session, as a part of our commitment to safety these sessions are offered exclusively to you FREE of cost

You must bring your own motorcycle. This training session is designed to help you improve your skills on the bike you ride.

Coffee & snacks are available for riders who check in on time. ?️ Lunch is included and provided on-site by Victory Lap Café. ? Cold water will be available all day—stay hydrated!

This course is designed for riders who want to enhance their control, confidence, and overall riding experience on their motorcycle. Participants must hold a valid Ontario motorcycle license, have their own bikes and have valid motorcycle insurance.

Yes. All motorcycles must be in a safe riding condition, which includes good tires, properly functioning brakes and no leaking fluids.

Snell, ECE or FIM-approved helmets are recommended. DOT-approved helmets are acceptable, but beanies are not permitted. Eye protection is required for those using an open-face helmet.

The course runs rain or shine! Developing riding skills in wet conditions is essential for real-world riding. If there is lightning or a thunderstorm, the course may be temporarily paused for safety. Dress accordingly to stay dry and comfortable.

We have confirmed with My Insurance Broker (MIB) that their insurance company partners will provide coverage subject to the policy’s selected coverage, limits, and deductibles—even if training takes place on a track. Check with your insurance provider for confirmation.
